Neolea is the Greek word for youth. With our initial singular goal to produce and bottle extra virgin olive oil, we needed a name that could embody and communicate this vision. A nice play of words? If you split the word into ‘Neo’ and ‘Lea’ it translates to New Olive. We’re all about fresh and pure products!
Neolea’s products can be found in about 2000 stores worldwide. Check out our store locator to find a retail store near you.
Sustainability guides our production choices at Neolea. We work with responsible producers who respect traditional methods and care for the land, and we aim to minimize impact throughout our supply chain.
A recent example is our switch to aluminium for the Pan&Plate line. Aluminium is lightweight, durable, and highly recyclable, helping us reduce waste and extend product life. By making considered material choices like this, we strive to create products that are both refined and more responsible.

About our products

EVOO stands for Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The abbreviation is commonly used among industry professionals and chefs.
Extra virgin is the highest quality category of olive oil available on the market. The olive oil is required to have an acidity level lower than 0.8 and free of any defects in either flavor or aroma.
This is the only category that can provide any health benefits to people.
Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is the highest quality olive oil available. It is made from fresh olives that are cold-pressed without heat or chemicals, preserving the oil’s natural flavor, aroma, and nutrients.
To be classified as extra virgin, the oil must meet strict standards:
- No refining or chemical processing
- Very low acidity (≤ 0.8%)
- No sensory defects in taste or aroma
Compared to regular olive oil or other vegetable oils, Fresh EVOO retains more antioxidants and polyphenols, which contribute to its distinctive flavor and potential health benefits. It typically has a fresh, grassy, or fruity taste and may have a slight peppery finish — a sign of its natural compounds.
Other oils are often refined which removes impurities but also strips away flavor and many beneficial components.
Fresh extra virgin olive oil is among the healthiest of fats and indeed good for you because it is rich in healthy monounsaturated fats (mainly oleic acid). Read more
Eventually it will go bad as naturally the acidity of the oil rises over time finally turning the olive oil rancid. When this happens depends heavily on the quality of extraction and storage conditions.
Yes — despite the myth, you can absolutely cook with extra virgin olive oil. It’s perfect for sautéing, shallow frying, and searing.
While you can deep fry in EVOO, prolonged high heat reduces its fresh flavor and aroma — the very qualities that make it special.
At Neolea, we developed Neolea For the Pan, a later harvest EVOO. Later harvest oils are naturally milder in flavor and aroma, making them especially suitable for everyday cooking and heating.
Neolea Extra Virgin Olive Oil For the Pan is excellent to cook and our suggestion is to use Neolea For the Plate as a finishing oil to pasta’s, salad’s, fish, meat or vegetables.
Olive oil is considered safe and good for dogs. The benefit of extra virgin olive oil for dogs is similar to humans; it keeps your dog's skin moisturized and well-nourished. However, some pups can be sensitive to the olive oil so better check for any signs of diarrhea or vomiting. We recommend consulting your vet first.
Absolutely! Extra virgin olive oil can be applied to your skin to moisturize and cleanse regardless of skin type. It contains vitamin E and antioxidants among other benefits, which may prevent ageing and repair skin damage. Extra Virgin Olive oil is non-toxic, anti-microbial, and hypoallergenic. We recommend using Neolea For the Plate.
Depending on your hair type, extra virgin olive oil (the highest category) can be absolutely beneficial to your hair. As extra virgin olive oil contains antioxidants, vitamins and minerals it can help to nourish and moisturise the scalp, preventing dryness and flakiness. We recommend using Neolea For the Plate.
Originally, traditional balsamic vinegar from Modena and Reggio Emilia is made from 100% cooked grape must and aged for a minimum of 12 years in wooden barrels. These vinegars are rare, highly regulated, and often very expensive.
Neolea Dark Balsamic Vinegar follows a different, Mediterranean interpretation. It is made by aging cooked grape must from grape varieties of the Nemea region for 3 years in new oak barrels, which impart a pronounced aromatic depth. It is then blended with red wine vinegar made from grapes grown on the island of Samos to create a balanced, layered flavor profile.
Neolea White Balsamic Vinegar combines white wine vinegar with concentrated grape must. The must is gently reduced at low temperature under pressure to preserve its delicate aromas, resulting in soft notes of honeysuckle, almond, and pear. The blend is then infused with seasoned oak to add structure and complexity.
Yes it can! We respect and honor the Italian production tradition however being in Greece also allows us to give this unique product our own spin. We set out to produce a product that has bold but balanced flavors while still being accessible for the creative chef at home. Being free to change up certain production processes allowed us to reach our goal.
Although you can argue about how relevant the question is, we can say with certainty that it's at least a bit Greek. The ancient Mediterranean world was very different from what it is today. The Greeks spread widely throughout the Mediterranean basin, planting olive trees and even vines to produce wine. This is not to say that it’s all Greek but it’s hard to claim the Greeks didn’t influence culture, tradition and knowledge throughout the Mediterranean.
Quality in balsamic vinegar comes down to ingredients, balance, and craftsmanship.
Neolea balsamic vinegars are made with cooked grape must and carefully selected wine vinegars from Greece — not artificial caramel or added sugars. Our Dark Balsamic is aged in oak barrels to develop depth and natural viscosity, while our White Balsamic uses gently concentrated grape must to preserve delicate aromas.
You’ll notice the difference in:
- Natural thickness — not watery or artificially thickened
- Balanced sweetness and acidity — smooth, never harsh
- Layered aroma — fruit, wood, and subtle complexity
